The roots of this practice were formed in 1972 in the UK when Richard Hughes entered social work. He took a number of qualifications and worked in a variety of settings with people who were disadvantaged in some way.
Besides direct therapy, Richard also held other roles including in management, training, student and clinical supervision.
After over 20years in these roles he moved with his wife and family to Australia.
After completing a social science degree(counselling) the counselling practice was created in 2001.
An expectation of the professional body, the Australian Counselling Association is that clinical supervision in maintained on a regular basis.
